EPI-CATCH is a COST action with the aim of defining, developing, generating and sharing new breaking knowledge and methodologies for the investigation of epigenetic mechanisms of plant adaptation to environmental stresses driven by climate change.

The Conference will take place in the beautiful city of Parma (Italy). The aim is to disseminate new insights into the epigenetic mechanisms of plant development and adaptation to environmental stresses linked to climate change. Other integrated multi-omics approaches with future perspectives of epigenetic analysis are also welcome. The Event, under the patronage of the Italian Society of Agricultural Genetics (SIGA), is an extraordinary occasion for researchers to disseminate, discuss, and update the latest research in plant epigenetics.

Two sessions are provided: 1) keynote speakers, 2) junior scientists.
The conference will be carried out as a hybrid event, with physical presence as well as live streaming through an online platform.

We currently have a postdoc opening on the project “Computational metagenomic analyses for Fish and food quality and origin assessment.”

The project is about the application of metagenomic and genomic data for the development of tools to evaluate the quality of food, with particular reference to the fish in relation to the accumulation of pollutants (such as: bioplastics, antibiotics and other xenobiotics), and origin focusing on use of data generated by second and third generation sequencers. Given the centrality of the analysis of massively generated sequences, a strong background in computational biology is required on the part of the candidate. The multidisciplinary vocation of the Microbiology laboratory is particularly suitable for projects of this type, also boasting numerous publications and funded projects on similar topics. The candidate will therefore have to deal with the computational biology part related to the carrying out of both projects, working mainly on ad-hoc generated sequences and using clustering and classification algorithms and have a background in biostatistics and Computer sciences.

The position is Fish_eu Trust H2020 Eu-grant.

The position is a one year position that can be renewed up to 3 years.

are now open!

The course will take place on 13-19 March 2023 in the outstanding island of Procida (Naples, Italy).

One grant of 500 EUR covering the registration fee of one student/post-doc who is an AGI member or works in a lab in which the PI is an AGI member will be awarded by AGI to a successful candidate.

In this EMBO Practical Course, participants will learn fundamental concepts and advanced approaches to reconstruct the demographic history of populations and infer natural selection, using both classic and machine learning-based techniques. Participants will also learn the essential and advanced programming skills required to run the analyses related to the concept presented, with a special focus on machine learning. Keynote lectures focused on major achievements and future perspectives of population genomics will complement the training. Lectures and practicals are delivered by experienced outstanding and inspiring speakers. We expect participants to become fully confident in running analyses on their own after attending the course.

This course aims at evolutionary biologists who already have basic bioinformatics skills. Good knowledge of R is a pre-requisite and knowledge of Python is a plus. Ph.D. students and Postdoc researchers will benefit the most out of this course, but applications from all candidates will be evaluated in their context.
