The school will cover several areas of conservation genetics applied to marine and lagoon organisms. It will consist of lectures, molecular and computer laboratories, and practical activities. Students will experience the major steps of a conservation genetics study, from sample collection to data analysis. Special attention will be given to the identification of commercial species and to the analysis of genetic variability in natural population. The course will also examine the possible impact of conservation genetics studies in the definition of conservation policies and fisheries management.
